The Monastery Museum:
A Treasure of Faith and History
Tucked within the serene walls of the Monastery, the Museum stands as a quiet guardian of centuries-old faith, art, and tradition. Founded around 2008 through the vision of the late Mother Abbess Sr. Angelica Pruneti, and with the invaluable help of their dear friend and Figline native, Dr. Danilo Badi, this intimate collection offers a rare glimpse into monastic life dating back to 1542.
Inside, visitors will find an extraordinary array of treasures: illuminated manuscripts and centuries-old books, hand-embroidered vestments worn in solemn liturgies, sacred paintings, and precious relics of saints. Each piece tells a story, of prayer, devotion, and the artistic skill of the nuns who, for nearly five centuries, have served God within these walls.
The Museum is uniquely located in the former coro (choir) area of the monastery, with an overlooking view of the church’s altar, a setting that envelops each visitor in the same sacred atmosphere the nuns have cherished for generations.
Though not open for general public entry, the Museum can be visited by appointment, offering a privileged and personal encounter with these historic treasures. Its mission is both to safeguard these delicate artifacts for future generations and to share them, when possible, with those who seek to discover the beauty and heritage of the Augustinian contemplative life.
